The age of the transfer portal and NIL has created some interesting dynamics in college football that we haven’t seen before, and coaches from conference rivals creating beef over players’ “market value” is certainly a new one.

Texas Tech football is coming off a massive announcement in which they revealed plans to make $200 million in upgrades to Jones AT&T Stadium, its largest investment into the Red Raider football program to date. Then, on Monday, the Red Raiders made headlines again as a local collective known as the Matador Club told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal that it intends to sign 100 Texas Tech football players to one-year, $25,000 NIL contracts.

On Tuesday, TCU Recruiting Coordinator and Offensive Analyst Bryan Carrington went to Twitter to try and provide some backlash to the happenings going on about 300 miles West of Fort Worth in Lubbock, Texas.

Well, to say that Carrington has a problem with the new NIL deals at TTU would be an understatement, as he went on a five-tweet thread rant telling recruits to be careful about “building their brand in a desert.” Check it out.
